Valorant Running Accuracy to be Nerfed in Patch 2.02

Valorant Running Accuracy has been a major complaint since the game’s release. Riot has finally addressed the issue, and have changes planned for the upcoming 2.02 update.

In the Jan. 28 edition of Ask Valorant, Senior Designer Jon Walker and Senior Producer Ian Fielding addressed some community feedback, including concerns on running accuracy in the game.

“We have some changes planned for Patch 2.02 that should help address sentiment on running accuracy with rifles. Keep in mind, we’re making sure not to change too many systems at once to ensure that shooting doesn’t feel so dramatically different that you’ll have to relearn habits.”

Players have long complained that accuracy while running has been too accurate, giving too little risk for moving quickly. The problem is exacerbated with rifles, leading to their dominance in weapon choices. This also leads to an over-presence of a “run and gun” playstyle, undermining some of the tactical strategy that players expect from Valorant.

According to Walker and Fielding, Riot will continue to monitor the situation after the accuracy nerf. “As always, we’ll keep an eye on the change and will continue to adjust as necessary.”
